Mini Grant Awards 2009

SFEEF awarded 16 grants to Spanish Fort classes in 2009. Over $22,344 was awarded for a variety of classroom projects to enhance our students’ learning experiences.
Spanish Fort High School $1462.80
- Lights, Camera, Action -Media Specialist- Patty Johnson
One Elmo Document Camera which will be for check out to all teachers so that students may view materials simultaneously from anywhere in the classroom. - Counseling Department Handbooks - Guidance Counselor Lee Cleveland
Handbook to provide student and parents a concise and informative guide for the college selection and scholarship selection process. Handbook may encompass all key areas students need to be familiar with a as they move from freshman to senior year, including high school resume, criteria for college acceptance, transcripts, and standardized testing.

STAR Reading software which allows teachers to determine the appropriate level of challenge for each child, ensure correct placement for new students and identify those who need individual help. As a web-based software program, this tool is designed to help teachers differentiate instruction of the skills students need to become successful readers. - Building Biographies- Media Specialist Gloria Nelson with Alice Taylor
Library will purchase biographies/autobiographies to offer challenging text as part of the Making Middle Grades Work program. - Creating Successful Students-Sarah Emes with Leshia James

- Interactive whiteboad, Airliner slate, bluetooth kit, sound , projector and installation for 4th and 5th grade Gifted Education Program (Project Jubilee)

SMART Document Camera to be used with SMART board in classroom. Camera not only provides live images to be viewed by entire classroom, it can capture an image, save it to video, store and be retrieved for later use.

Two Promethean Interactive Board to be use in classrooms. Boards display a computer screen. The touch-sensitive board allows students to manipulate data, run live video from a camera and deliver Power Point presentations and more. - Lights, Camera & Action- Kelly Knapp

Rugs to engage children in activities for learning alphabet and numbers. - Six Traits of Writing Resources-Media Specialist Mealnie Davis and Katie Winn
Program designed to instruct children about traits the traits of successful writing. Books will be available for teachers to check out when teaching writing lessons in K-5 classrooms.
