Scholar’s Bowl can be defined as a sport where two teams of four sit down and are asked questions of varying topics, from history to pop culture to college level calculus, which they answer by buzzing in on electronic buzzers, and the team who answers the most questions right wins. This, however, is merely the sport. The true application of Scholar’s Bowl in a student’s life is the vast amounts of knowledge they must research to be ready for any question, be it one bout Napoleon Bonaparte or Brittney Spears. This intensive knowledge building not only makes one quick at the buzzers; it broadens the mind and makes a student more willing to understand the world around them. That is what I believe scholar’s Bowl is all about.
